Dr Kumar is regularly called upon to treat complicated hand injuries in his capacity as a consultant plastic surgeon at Nepean Hospital. While many of these are work-related there are others that occur via accidents at home or other locations. Dr Kumar is able to treat these injuries at various hospitals around Sydney to ensure that there is no delay in patient care, and that the patient returns to work or their previous activities as quickly as possible.

Post-operatively, following repair of the damage, the hand is placed in a splint and a bandage and elevated in a sling. Antibiotics are given to prevent infection and if you are a smoker this is actively discouraged during your healing. Depending on the injury you are reviewed between one and two weeks post op and any non-dissolving sutures removed. Should you require hand physiotherapy this will be organised prior to your discharge or very soon thereafter.
